Centrifugation Procedure for Afc Bags

  1. The Afc 120-F freezer bag is prepared for centrifugation by folding the label pocket along side the bag.

  2. The AFC 120-F is placed inside an overwrap and the top folded down.

  4. A "sandwich" bag is prepared to cushion the Afc 120-F in the centrifuge cup. The sandwich bag is a Fenwal® 1000ml transfer pack containing 400ml of saline.

  6. The sandwich bag is folded into a "U" shaped around the bottom of the Afc 120-F. The bottom of the "U" will be at the bottom of the centrifuge cup. The Afc 120-F will be inside the "U" sitting upright with the tubeing at the top of the centrifuge cup.

  8. The sandwhich is held between two hands to compress it sufficiently to slip inside the centrifuge cup.

  9. Any tubing or loose tubes are tucked alongside the Afc 120-F after placing the sandwhich inside the centrifuge cup. Nothing should be on top of the bag in the centrifuge.IMG_7320_2.JPG

  10. Fluid can be added to the cup to balance the centrifuge.

  11. The cup is now ready for the centrifuge.

  12. Carefully grasp the top of the Afc 120-F bag and gently pull the bag out of the centrifuge cup.

  14. Place the bag on the counter and inspect for sedimentation.
